Dairy Factory Outfall Monitoring
[Tuesday, May 29, 2007]Ongoing expansion at the large Clandeboye dairy factory in South Canterbury, NZ required the installation of an ocean outfall to disperse excess waste water.
With stringent environmental standards to meet, extensive real time monitoring was required.
iQuest in partnership with Industrial Controls South Canterbury and Tetrapak installed a radio linked outfall monitoring system that ensures effluent level, pH and temperature are compliant before discharge.
An IRIS320 logger at the outfall logs data and sends regular updates to a DS-4483 logger in the factory 5km away.
This logger also monitors local parameters and passes the data to a PLC on the plant SCADA system.
Logged data is retrieved using iLink and archived in CSV format.
